The D-E Lobby buzzed with excitement as young scholars pulled out their weapons. Wands. For these students, their eyes were on an imaginary prize: winning a wizard’s duel. To members of the Harry Potter Club, such events are all part of their wizarding “curriculum”.
“We make wands and duel commonly,” said senior Mackenzie Michael.
The large club of over thirty students is divided, in Hogwarts fashion, into the four houses Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. They even have a headmaster, English teacher Greg Hellman.
Over the course of the year, this young club has grand plans as well. Head of Slytherin, senior Wesley Tyler, said, “We’ve scheduled a Yule ball catered and with live music. Later we’ll have quidditch teams in the spring.”
The club is also known for their Harry Potter themed feasts of cauldron cakes and Butterbeer.
“My favorite part is the food,” junior Christopher Blackwood said, “it’s fun and awesome.”
Those interested in joining can come by at 3:00 on Mondays in D205.
“We nerd out about Harry Potter and have a good fun time,” said Michael.
